Trenchless Sewer Services in Louisville

No-Dig Sewer Repair That Starts With a Camera, Not a Shovel

When a sewer line fails, most homeowners brace for a torn-up yard and a week of disruption. Trenchless sewer repair changes that picture. Instead of digging a continuous open trench along the length of the damaged pipe, it rehabilitates the line through one or two small access points, leaving your lawn, driveway, and landscaping largely intact. At SOS Plumbing, we start every sewer repair with a camera inspection so we know exactly what we’re dealing with before a shovel touches the ground.

Residential plumbing is our core focus. We serve homeowners across Louisville and Southern Indiana, and trenchless sewer services are part of the sewer and drain work we handle every day.

Signs Your Louisville Home May Need Sewer Line Repair

Sewer problems rarely announce themselves clearly. Louisville’s aging residential infrastructure, combined with hard water and an established tree canopy, creates conditions where root intrusion, pipe corrosion, and sediment buildup can quietly worsen for months before a backup forces the issue.

These are the situations where we recommend getting a camera inspection:

  • Recurring or multi-drain backups: When more than one fixture backs up at the same time, the problem is usually in the main sewer lateral, not an individual drain line.
  • Tree root intrusion: Roots find hairline cracks in older pipe joints and widen them over time. We diagnose and repair root damage that has punctured or partially blocked the line.
  • Corroded cast iron pipe: Cast iron eventually scales, thins, and cracks. We replace corroded sections that have deteriorated beyond what lining can fix.
  • Bellied or shifted pipe: Soil erosion and ground settling can cause a section of pipe to sag, creating a low point where waste collects. We repair bellied sections caused by shifting foundations or unstable soil.
  • Crushed or damaged lines: Vehicle traffic, nearby construction, or foundation movement can collapse underground pipe. We repair lines pushed out of alignment or partially crushed.
  • Sewer gas odors indoors: A persistent sulfur smell can mean cracks in vent stacks or drain lines. We track down the breach and seal it.

A camera inspection can surface root intrusion, cracks, and pipe offsets before they become emergencies. It’s also a smart step before a home purchase, giving buyers a clear picture of the sewer lateral’s condition.

Why Louisville Homeowners Trust SOS Plumbing for Trenchless Sewer Work

Every service call is performed by a licensed plumber. Not a handyman, not a subcontractor. Under Kentucky law, plumbing work must be performed by a licensed journeyman or master plumber, and only a master plumber can pull the permits a jurisdiction requires. When we show up, the person doing the work is qualified to do it.

Before any trenchless sewer repair begins, we give you a clear cost estimate. The final invoice is based on what we discussed. No surprises after the work is done.

The Captain’s Membership
For homeowners who want to stay ahead of sewer problems, our Captain’s Membership includes an annual main sewer camera inspection. We check for root intrusion, pipe offset, and buildup in the main line before a backup turns into an emergency call. Members also receive 10% off labor and materials on every service call, priority scheduling, and waived diagnostic fees.

How Trenchless Sewer Repair Works

We don’t choose a repair method before we know what’s wrong. The process starts with a camera inspection: we run a camera through the line, record real-time video footage, and produce a detailed report identifying the location, type, and extent of the damage. That report helps determine which trenchless method fits the situation.

Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining

CIPP lining inserts a resin-saturated liner into the existing pipe through a single access point. The liner is expanded and cured in place, forming a smooth new pipe wall inside the old one. CIPP works well when the existing pipe structure is intact enough to support a liner and the damage is primarily cracking, minor root intrusion, or corrosion.

Pipe Bursting

When a pipe is too deteriorated to serve as a liner host, pipe bursting replaces it entirely without digging a trench. A bursting head is pulled through the damaged pipe, fracturing the old material outward while a new pipe is drawn into place behind it. Like CIPP, it requires only small access points rather than excavating the full length of the line.
